Whether scaling mountains, conquering the boardroom, or catching up with friends, here’s how to change your Apple Watch strap to seamlessly align with every facet of your lifestyle.
- Prepare Your Watch: Lay your Apple Watch face down over a clean surface like a lint-free, microfiber cloth or soft, padded mat.
- Release the Old Band: On the back of your Apple Watch, you will find two band release buttons at the top and bottom where the band slides in. Gently press and hold one of these buttons, then slide the band across to remove it.
- Insert the New Band: Align the new wrist band with the Apple Watch's band slot at a slight angle. Make sure you have the band in the correct orientation. Slide the new band in until you feel and hear a click.
- Check for Security: Give the band a gentle tug to ensure it's locked in. If it slides out, realign and try again.
- Repeat for the Other Side: Repeat the same process on the other side of the watch if you're changing both parts of the band.
Is My Band Compatible With Other Apple Watch Models?
To find your case size and other information, check the engraving on the back of your Apple Watch. These bands are compatible with one another:
- Bands for 38mm, 40mm, and 41mm cases
- Bands for 42mm, 44mm, and 45mm cases
- Bands for 49mm cases are compatible with 44mm and 45mm cases, and vice versa
For example, most bands designed for Apple Watch Series 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation) are compatible with Apple Watch Ultra.
Note that it’s important only to use watch straps specifically made for Apple Watches.
